Thanksgiving Dessert

You've just eaten a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner, you've helped the host and hostess get all the dishes into the kitchen...all the uneaten food wrapped up and put away.  The coffee is hot and you are starting to think about dessert.  Our wonderful host made a home-made apple pie and a home-made pumpkin pie.  We brought a box of chocolate meltaways and a plate full of double chocolate chip cookies.

So here's the dilemma. Do we have to eat the host's dessert choices, if we like ours better?  I mean..."The Boss" isn't really into pumpkin pie, but she loves chocolate cookies. In fact she often says that if it's not chocolate...it's not dessert.  I've seen her eat a piece of apple pie with vanilla ice cream, and an hour later eat a walnut brownie.  Don't get me wrong...I've got no problem with her eating whatever she likes.  If she want's to eat six desserts that's okay...I just think the chocolate rule is cute.

I take contol of the situation and ask our host and hostess what they'd like.  She wants some of the meltaways and he wants a few of the cookies.  So are they going to be irritiated that the pies are untouched?  I can say I didn't want to take the one slice of pie and leave the rest untouched... "Oh...Neither of you wanted pie?" our hostess asks.

You know how it is...If it's not chocolate...it's not dessert.
